On June 5, 2015 the Russian company NEARMEDIC opened a pharmaceutical plant in the Kaluzhskaya oblast designed to provide a range of key medicines to the domestic market.

The facility opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Denis Manturov; the Governor of the Kaluzhskaya oblast, Anatoly Artamonov; RUSNANO Chairman of the Board, Anatoly Chubais, and other officials.

The NEARMEDIC PHARMA plant unique feature is that the whole production cycle, from the synthesis of starting substances to the production of the finished framework of one production facility product, takes place within the framework of the same production facility. And all products in the range have been developed at the company itself. The production facility meets the requirements of GMP, ISO, and FDA. The plant annual production capacity will be as much as 100 million packages of drugs. The total cost of construction is estimated to exceed 4 billion rubles.

The General contractor was FormaPharm Engineering Group with profound expertise in the design and construction of more than a dozen modern pharmaceutical plants in Europe and in Russia.

The staff of the plant will count 185 persons. Several hundred highly qualified specialists will be recruited on a contract basis.

“On the territory of the new plant, we will not only produce existing drugs, but also develop new ones at a new Research&Development center for the development and scaling of pharmaceutical substances synthesis technologies. We want to create a science and production complex that will form, within the perimeter of one pharmaceutical cluster, a full chain of research, engineering, preclinical testing and production of original drugs,” said Vladimir Nesterenko, NEARMEDIC General Director sharing his plans for the near future.
